Yes. International transactions can be blocked using the “International” location control. When selecting this option, transactions will be limited to the United States. Also, for additional protection of our members' GSCU Visa® Debit Cards, GSCU does internally block certain international countries.
The control settings take effect in real time.
Previously authorized recurring payments will continue to process and will bypass the CardControl settings.
The My Location controls and alerts will check to ensure the merchant location is within a five (5) mile radius of the device set as “primary” within CardControl. These controls impact “card present” transactions only, therefore internet transactions are not impacted.
CardControl performs a proximity check at the granularity of zip code or city, so if the merchant is close to home then the transactions will still be processed.
When “My Location” controls are turned on, all in-store transactions are denied if the device and merchant locations don’t match.
Regions allow you to assign each enrolled card to a geographical area. When a point-of-sale transaction is initiated, the merchant’s location is compared with your defined regions. If the transaction occurs outside of your region(s), it is declined.
A threshold amount is the maximum dollar amount for a point-of-sale transaction. If a transaction exceeds your defined amount, the transaction is declined.
CardControl allows you to restrict debit card transactions for specific types of merchants (i.e. gas stations, grocery, etc.) and transaction types (online or in person). You can set transaction and monthly spending limits for each of your GSCU Visa® Debit Cards.
Use transaction types to control which transaction categories are permitted. For example, if you do not often travel internationally, you can disable international transactions until required, or you can disable any ATM activity.
Use merchant types to permit or restrict your debit card from being used with specific categories of merchants, such as restaurants, department stores, etc. For example, you can enable the merchant types for groceries and fuel for everyday purchases but disable entertainment and travel until required.
